1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using KinderLib, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our platform. If you are using KinderLib on behalf of a child, you confirm that you are their parent or legal guardian.

2. Platform Description

KinderLib is a global digital book publishing and distribution platform designed for publishers to host, manage, and monetise their children's book collections. The platform specialises in children's books for ages 0-9, with emphasis on reading comprehension, early literacy, inclusive content for children with special needs, and multilingual reading experiences.

3. User Accounts

• You must be at least 18 years old to create an account
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account
• You agree not to misuse the platform or its content
• Child profiles must be created and supervised by a parent or guardian
• Publisher accounts are created via invitation after a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is signed with KinderLib

4. Content and Intellectual Property

All books and content on KinderLib are the intellectual property of their respective publishers and authors. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any content on the platform without explicit permission. AI-generated translations are provided for accessibility purposes and remain the property of KinderLib and the original rights holders. Each book on the platform is assigned a KSBN (KinderLib Standard Book Number) for unique identification.

5. Publisher Terms

Publishers who submit content to KinderLib grant a non-exclusive licence to display, translate, and distribute their books on the platform. Publishers retain all ownership rights to their original content.

• Revenue sharing is based on subscription member views and reader engagement metrics
• Publishers can set books as Free (all users) or Paid (subscription members only)
• Publishers can save books as Published (visible to readers) or Draft (admin-only)
• Publishers may invite team members with specific roles: Editor, Layouter, and Proofreader
• Publishers can use the AI-powered translation editor to translate and adapt their books
• Publishers can invite Right Buyers to provide existing translations via a Rights Contract

6. Reader Engagement Metrics

KinderLib tracks reader engagement to support analytics and revenue sharing:

• Meaningful Reader: A reader who views at least 50% of a book's pages and spends at least 5 minutes reading
• Completed Read: At least 90% of the book read
• Engagement data is used to calculate revenue sharing and provide analytics to publishers

7. Subscriptions and Payments

Some features of KinderLib may require a paid subscription. Books may be set as Free (accessible to all users) or Paid (accessible to subscription members only). Prices and billing terms will be clearly displayed before purchase. You may cancel your subscription at any time. Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis.

8. AI Translation and Content Processing

KinderLib uses AI-powered tools to translate, simplify, expand, rephrase, summarise, and fix grammar in book content. While we strive for accuracy, AI-generated translations and modifications may contain errors. Publishers are encouraged to review and approve all AI-generated changes before publishing. KinderLib is not liable for inaccuracies in AI-processed content.

9. Limitation of Liability

KinderLib is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any damages arising from the use of our platform. We do our best to ensure content quality and accuracy, but we cannot guarantee that all translations or text simplifications are error-free.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes via email or through the platform. Continued use of KinderLib after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
